The CMS is responsible for a range of tasks related to the oversight of medical insurance plans, such as:

  💙 With a maximum annual outlay of  close to a million rand per family, this plan is best for those with moderate annual medical expenses who want and need access to Comprehensive Maternity Benefits and high-quality Hospital care.   💙 Furthermore, providing medical insurance to a young family who is still trying to start a family or has young children is a great investment. In addition, the Comprehensive Preventive Care Program makes a wide range of Early Detection Tests available to members under this Option.   💙 Options A and B cover primary care physician visits and treatments for members and their dependents, whether received in the doctor's office or at the patient's residence. They, and their families, have access to Emergency Care coverage.   💙 The following pharmaceutical benefits are provided to participants in the Scheme:  

• ✅ Acute medication - doctor-prescribed medication that has not been added to the patient's repeat prescription file. A review by the member's primary care physician is necessary before new medications can be added to the member's repeat prescription.
• ✅ Prescribed medication - Substances that, by law, must be obtained through a prescription from a medical practitioner before they can be sold or given to a patient at a pharmacy or other dispensing facility.
• ✅ Dispensed Medication - to "dispense" a medication means to prepare and administer it to a specific individual according to a written prescription.
• ✅ Commonly Available Medications refer to medication that does not require a prescription and can be purchased at a drugstore or grocery store.

  💙 This is the best option if a member wants the maximum benefit across the board, including coverage for chronic illness, excellent hospital care, and comprehensive day-to-day medical coverage.  This choice gives members access to a pool of R2,021, 000 per family per year, allowing them to support a larger number of dependents.   💙 In addition, just like with Option A, Option B's Comprehensive Preventative Care Program members have access to a wide range of Early Detection Tests.   💙 Options A and B cover primary care physician visits and treatments for members and their dependents, whether received in the doctor's office or at the patient's residence. • ✅ Member or patient's surname and initials.
• ✅ The Member's membership number.
• ✅ The service provider's or doctor's practice code number.
• ✅ The date each relevant health treatment was performed.
• ✅ The fees for the services.

  💙 Reasons for nonpayment of claims include the following:  

• ☑️  When the Scheme believes that the assertion is false
• ☑️  Where the Scheme believes fraud and required authorizations were not obtained before to treatment

  💙 The scheme will notify the member within 30 days when claims are denied. Furthermore, the member will be given 60 days to revise the claim and resubmit it to SAMWUMED.   💙 When a member pays for treatment and then requests reimbursement from the Scheme, the claim must be accompanied by an original receipt.  Furthermore, members can submit claims to SAMWUMED online, by post, or by hand delivery.
