The Council for Medical Schemes regulates the Medihelp Medical Scheme.Β The Council governs South Africa’s medical plan business for Medical Schemes (CMS), a regulating body set up under the Medical Schemes Act, No. 131 of 1998 (the Act).
πThe CMS is responsible for a range of tasks related to the oversight of medical insurance plans, such as:

Making sure healthcare plans have the money to pay claims.

Examining and authorizing proposed price hikes for medical plans.
