• Elective or cosmetic procedures are not covered
• Bone-related injuries due to giving your pet bones to chew on are not covered
• Diseases that can be vaccinated against and require vaccination for cover, where no vaccination history exists, or vaccinations have not been kept up to date
• Treatment of tooth root abscess or periodontal disease if the pet is over 5 years old and has not had a dental cleaning within the past 3 years
• Costs related to the treatment of a condition similar to a condition that has been excluded from cover
• Pica workup and treatment unless a cause unrelated to nutrition is found
• Pre-anesthetic blood for pets under 8 years of age and suffering from no other illnesses, as per policy wordings
• No cover for transplants, prosthetics, or replacements
• Any home visits from a vet and voluntary euthanasia of a healthy pet are not covered
• Normal rates apply if a pet is seen during emergency hours for conditions not deemed an emergency
• No cover for cremation services above the basic or any post-mortems
• No cover for treatment for behavior modification, including training
• Pandemic and non-endemic diseases are not covered
• Any genetic or chromosome testing is for the pet owner’s account
• No cover for pets used for commercial purposes (e.g., police dogs, search & rescue dogs, etc.)
• Any costs related to the daily running of a veterinarian practice, such as PPE equipment, waste disposal, etc.
• Claims that are not reported within 30 days from the original date of loss are not covered
• No cover for the boarding or transport of a pet
• If a pet has a history of getting into fights with other dogs and is walked off-leash in public, no cover is provided for vet fees or third-party injuries

  Any injury or illness from war activities, riots, strikes, or terrorism is excluded.  

Kido Pet Insurance Waiting Periods

  Kido Pet Insurance has the following waiting periods that apply:  

• A basic waiting period of 30 days for all illnesses from the policy inception or the addition of a pet to the Family Care product
• For pets under 8 years old, a 3-month waiting period for musculoskeletal conditions, growths, hereditary, congenital, and breed-related conditions is waived if a pet has seen a veterinarian within this period without any of these conditions noted
• For pets over 8 years old or with no clinical history (e.g., rescue or rehomed pets), a 1-year waiting period for musculoskeletal conditions, growths, hereditary, congenital, breed, and age-related conditions is waived if a pet has seen a veterinarian within this period without any of these conditions noted. In addition, blood tests must be done to rule out any illnesses.

  There is no waiting period for accident cover, except for musculoskeletal conditions, 3 months. Waived if a pet has seen a veterinarian within this period with no musculoskeletal conditions noted.
